Ted and his father and his brothers live in Middle. In the beginning- a household of men, all of whom work in the pit... The reader follows Ted as he reaches for Paradise, and his sister Rose as she seeks personal happiness below. And in the end it is the women who, sadly, inherit the earth. Susan Hill is an exceptional writer at the height of her powers. Enchanted card shipped without toploader or hard sleeve? Seriously? Between two FLIMSY cardboard... not hard cardstock, flimsy cardboard that came bent, and the card had slid out from between it (as it would and should since it wasn't secured), and then seller refusing a return? Oh and they charged the equivalent of $40 USD to budget ship a jerry-rigged failed contraption instead of using a bubble mailer with top loader and penny sleeve that's secured. AVOID AVOID!
