The filter did its job up to a point, the water was much cleaner but stopped getting any better. The filter wasn't removing the small particles. Added a sheet of the floss to the filter not knowing if it would work. It did, within a couple of days the floss had a think layer of fine mud and has needed cleaning every couple of days since. We can now see the bottom of the pond and the fish!
