If the thread is damaged in your bike's bottom bracket, this item works well. My local bike shop fitted one of these 7 years ago. It lasted 7 years (exactly) and 26,700 kms. (Maybe if I cleaned my bike occasionally, it would have lasted longer.) Not too bad for $40. They are easy to fit, and the tools required are in most bike tool sets. My tool kit was from Aldi. It helps to have a compressor with a socket drive. I'm going to order another for when I reach another 26,700 kms!! Mark, QLD.
