About this product

Product Information

The story follows our young hero's journey as he seeks to capture a dragon in order to mark his passage into manhood and prove his worthiness to the tribe. Young Hiccup (voiced by Jay Baruchel) wants to help his Viking community battle the dragons that terrorize their village, but he just doesn't have it in him to harm the fire-breathing creatures. His father, the town's fearless warrior leader Stoick (Gerard Butler), has difficulty communicating with his awkward son, not even wanting Hiccup to go through the dragon-fighting training classes that many kids his age attend. Just as Stoick's friend Gobber (Craig Ferguson) convinces Stoick to let his son train, Hiccup befriends an injured dragon he names Toothless, and soon his relationship with the creature gives him insight on how to make the monsters allies to the Vikings and bring peace to all.

Reviews
The Times - The film looks terrific. The colours burst out of the screen like fireworks and the opening dragon attack sequence is genuinely exhilarating., Guardian (UK) - An enjoyable family movie, with some great flight sequences - and there's an interestingly realistic sense of the dangers involved in risking your neck for others., Boxoffice Magazine - An exciting, fun and sensationally entertaining movie for everyone., The Guardian - An enjoyable family movie, with some great flight sequences û and there's an interestingly realistic sense of the dangers involved in risking your neck for others., Daily Mirror - Beautifully animated, genuinely touching and with a terrific climax, it's the perfect family film., Time Out - The visuals are striking, the script sharp and well paced and it all wraps up with a breathtaking aerial battle sequence., Times (UK) - The film looks terrific. The colours burst out of the screen like fireworks and the opening dragon attack sequence is genuinely exhilarating., New Yorker - Smartly dispensing with the usual hubbub of pop references that dot many of these films, the movie offers touching, quiet moments and imaginative, high-flying beauty. It's fantastically entertaining.
