After the introduction of the 6-Series coupes at the Geneva Show in March 1976, the cars were an immediate hit with BMW fans. The cars were so popular that, over the years, with the exception of additional spoilers and a modified rear bumper wraparound (the latter in 1982), that styling remained unchanged during a production run of 16 years.
