These were working documents, hurriedly written out so the internee would not miss the train and pushed in the pocket of the soldier escorting the internee and not treated with love and kindness! The soldier often crumpled it up and put it in his pocket! Postal FDCs are hand stamped with care so there is not TOO much ink or Too little ink. Internment camp staff were not serving that market, so faint images are known, over-inked ones and blurred ones where the hand stamp did not give one clean result. It is my impression that 'FDC quality' strikes are a rarity. The IMR station staff filling in the H M Forces tickets were also working against the clock on a routine and somewhat boring task. Internee could become Int, etc! Rubber stamped warrants without the rubber stamp were accepted.”
