Manufacturers often use superseded part numbers. It is the same part. Manufacturers assign a superseded part number when outsourcing to other suppliers during the manufacturing process so they can identify which vehicles had a specific faulty component installed if they need to do a recall. The superseded number allows the manufacturer to identify which specific vehicles had the part installed so they know that only vehicles with that part # will need recalled.
