Das Edelstahlgehäuse der Digital IXUS 400 wurde dezent überarbeitet und mit einem modernen Finish in hochwertigem Aluminium-Look versehen. Mit einem intelligenten 9-Punkt-Autofokus und der iSAPS (intelligent Scene Analysis based on Photographic Space) Technologie gewährleistet die Digital IXUS 400 erstklassige Bildergebnisse. Die Digital IXUS 400 bietet die Möglichkeit des manuellen Weißabgleichs. Die Histogramm-Anzeige bei Bildwiedergabe erlaubt eine präzise Belichtungskontrolle im Anschluss an die Aufnahme. Sie unterstützt die Direct Print Funktion für Fotodruck ohne PC und bietet mit dem MyCamera Mode die Möglichkeit, individuelle Startscreens und Sounds einzurichten.
