Gamers can run up walls, vault over obstacles, and grind along rails and zip lines as they blast hordes of hideous creatures. The game takes place in a brightly colored, post-apocalyptic setting. Unfortunately, Sunset City's residents have turned into disgusting mutants after consuming a tainted energy drink. Before players can escape, they must search the open world to look for survivors.The fast-paced game play, visual style, and inventive arsenal of weapons in "Sunset Overdrive" give gamers an exciting experience. This Xbox One game is set in the year 2027. The FizzCo Corporation has accidentally released a contaminated energy drink called OverCharge Delirium XT. Anyone who consumed the beverage has turned into a horrifying monster. The monsters are referred to as "ODs" due to the drink's initials. Gamers play as a FizzCo employee who works in the sanitation department. Players are free to customize the character in these games, choosing their gender, outfit, body shape, and even hairstyle.The game is an action-adventure shooter played in the third person. Players use comical and deadly weapons to dispatch a variety of monsters, members of rival factions, and FizzCo's rogue bots. Included in the arsenal are guns that launch bowling balls and teddy bears strapped with dynamite. Other weapons available in this Xbox One title include fireworks and harpoons. With such a unique arsenal at your disposal, "Sunset Overdrive" allows you to use a variety of combinations to defeat enemies. The enemies are just as varied. Along with the terrifying mutants, players encounter factions of urban samurai and live-action role players.Weapons can get even more outrageous as players unlock modifiers, known as Amps. Those modifiers can produce nuclear explosions, cause tornadoes, and even summon the Grim Reaper. Gamers can also set equally humorous and destructive traps to help dispatch mutant hordes. The more you use a weapon, the more frequently you'll earn upgrades. Traversing the open world of Sunset City is an adventure in itself; players can grind on rails and power lines, jump on anything buoyant, climb walls, and leap off buildings. Getting from point A to point B in "Sunset Overdrive" for the Xbox One is a different experience every time. In the multiplayer Chaos Squad mode, gamers can join forces with up to seven online friends to battle waves of mutants."Sunset Overdrive" was first released for the Xbox One in October 2014. This game puts a different spin on the typical post-apocalypse genre. The humorous writing and vivid side characters have made the game a favorite of Xbox fans. The game has a Mature rating due to violence and language. This Day One Edition includes DLC codes for extras that are not available anywhere else. Players can download the Nothin' but the Hits gun, which shoots vinyl records or the Hardcore Hammer melee weapon. Also included is an outfit that lets players dress as FizzCo mascot Fizzie.
