Seller notes: “Very Good-Excellent overall antique cond: Found on the NH seacoast near the ME border, this ... “Very Good-Excellent overall antique cond: Found on the NH seacoast near the ME border, this absolutely incredibly beautiful late 18th-early 19th c faience glazed, hvy cer, hand painted, fig dec wall tile is in extraordinarily well-pres cond, w/only the slightest bit of margin loss occurring in the extreme lower R corner, only ever-so-slightly interrupting the glazed facia. There's also some minor cer loss occurring behind the top R corner of the tile, invisible from the front. No hairline cracks are assoc w/either episode & the tile remains intact, 100% orig & without repairs (old or new.) The fig cer tile has thick, kiln-baked faience glaze, which is highly reflective & comprised of grnd, pulverized glass, giving the surfaces great viscosity & physicality, making it durable. Feat is a brass smith in period costume working on a wood bench w/hammer & brass pot. This wonderfully realized early occupational ceramic tile is an espec early one, showcasing artisans & craftsmen. Splendid.”
