After years of fronting the 1980s art-rock band Wall of Voodoo, eccentric singer-songwriter Stan Ridgway furthers his penchant for spaghetti Western-likesoundscapes and moody, pulp-noir subject matter through a criminally underrated solo career. Having collected over a decade's worth of rare tracks, B-sides, and unreleased material for the 2002 compilation HOLIDAY IN DIRT, Ridgway expands upon his cinematic ambitions and assembles an impressive lineup of music-video filmmakers to create movie shorts for each of the album's songs. Interpreting HOLIDAY IN DIRT's near-literary character studies such as "Beloved Movie Star," "Garage Band '69," "Bing Can't Wait," and "Whatever Happened to You" are Phil Harder, Rick Fuller, Carlos Grass, Jim Ludtke, Chuck Statler, and many more.
