Seller notes: “An interesting legacy presentation bible in the gift of Lord Philip Wharton, 4th Baron Wharton ... “An interesting legacy presentation bible in the gift of Lord Philip Wharton, 4th Baron Wharton (1613-1696). A good full leather hardback in lightly speckled calf with presentation inscription dated to 1843 blind embossed on front cover. Raised bands to spine. With light wear and some loss to the leather at the head of spine. Bound with fully functioning brass metal clasps. This would have felt like a very special gift to a child in 1843.The first pastedown carries a script presentation inscription with a tear while the child's name has been removed. There is also a printed label explaining the background of the presentation. Some wear to the page edges of the first few pages from the brass clasps.Text is clean and bright throughout.”
