As such, this book needs to be handled carefully. You will note that the boards, though still very much intact, are somewhat loose. You can see that the leather is cracked and worn on the boards and spine. But, the embossing on the rear board is in excellent condition and very detailed. The original brass clasp still works. All three page edges are gold gilt. Internal pages are toned but nice with little to no foxing. Though string bound, the binding is remarkably intact. A GEM OF A CIVIL WAR ERA POCKET BIBLE HERE! .”
