Many thanks! Lovely stamp on a very clean cover - I reckon it is close to being a Last Day Cover given this was posted on Saturday 29 May 1954 and the new QE2 stamps were issued on 1st June 1954, ie the following Tuesday. Was Monday 31st May a holiday and Post Offices closed as presumably they were on Sunday 31st? If so it could be the last day of sale. Very happy to get this and more investigation required!
