The 272km long signposted GR70 frail roughly follows Scottish writer Robert Louis Stevenson's footsteps through the Cévennes in Southern France. The trail runs across the Massif Central, from Le-Puy-en-Velay to Ales, offering endless opportunities to admire the unique scenery, sample great food and enjoy warm hospitality. It can be shortened by starting from le Monastier-sur-Gazeille and finishing at St-Jean-du-Gard, as Stevenson did. Divided into 12 stages, the trek is suitable for first lime and experienced hikers alike. The terrain is mostly easy but some sections are long, so a reasonable level of fitness is required. can be completed in less than 2 weeks, best walked Easter to October, suitable for a first long-distance walking holiday Book jacket.
