The reason was because the seller had noticed inconsistencies with one of the control buttons on the camera. When I received the camera, I put a battery in it and a lens on it, then I turned it on and tested it. It seemed to function fine. There may be an issue with the button the seller mentioned, but the camera is usable and was a good value.
