Seller notes: “Removed from an old dresser; however, they were not original to the dresser. There were several ... “Removed from an old dresser; however, they were not original to the dresser. There were several coats of paint on them starting with at least two coats of white and a coat or two of a copper color on top of that. I soaked them in BIX paint stripper (last photo) and scraped off some of the paint coats which can be seen in the second to last photo. This was not the best route to take. So, then, I boiled them in water & vinegar twice, each time scraping off the paint coats to get down to the original brass. The third to last photo is what they looked like after boiled and scraped clean of paint. Finally, I polished them with 0000 steel wool and applied an acrylic clear coat. There are some minor imperfections like shadows, pitting, and dezincification. I found these listed in the Keeler Brass #53 catalog dated circa 1953 added photo at end. It was worth the EIGHT hours of labor to restore them. They are beautiful: 3" borings and 7" long. Please see the photos for a visual description.”
