The name is both fictional (Slavic, or Russianfairy tales, meaning old witch) or in my case, the name my grandchildren call me. When my son married, his wife to be had a 3-year-old. He already had a grandma and a nana. When asked what he would like to call my husband and myself, my son (joking we think) said Baba Yaga. Luke grabbed onto it because it made everyone laugh, so now I am Baba Yaga and my husband is Papa Yaga. I have decided to embrace the idea.
