This book presents a managerial approach to organizational behaviour. It is concerned with interactions among the structure and operation of organizations, the process of management and the behaviour of people at work. The underlying theme of this book is the need for organizational effectiveness and the importance of the role of management as an integrating activity. Its aim is to provide an integrated view embracing both theory and practice and to indicate ways in which organizational performance can be improved through better use of human resources. The book is written with a minimum of technical terminology. Each chapter contains a short introduction, objectives, a synopsis of key points, review and discussion questions, notes and references, and includes an exercise or case study. This second edition is completely revised and expanded with four additional chapters on the nature of organizational behaviour, staffing and organization, organization development and management development and organizational effectiveness. Other chapters have also been rewritten or include new sections.
