This smoke detector was purchased to replace the same model that was faulty. Our old detector was several years old and that particular model was discontinued and replaced with this new interchangeable model which we were aware of. There was a very nice note from the seller explaining this as well. As it turned out we had to hire an electrician to install it as it was not a simple exchange like we had hoped but it certainly was not the fault of the seller. It seems to work just fine.
