The Wimpey, as the Wellington was known, was a bomber designed by the legendary Barnes Wallace before the war. In the early years of World War Two it was the mainstay of Bomber Command - taking the Blitz back to Germany. It was still in service after the war, having served all over the world. The majority of RAF airmen will have flown in the Wimpey at some time, making this an important work for these men and their relatives seeking their family history.
