About this product
Product Information
Join Woody, Buzz, and the rest of the “Toy Story” gang in this video game version of Disney's “Toy Story.” Originally released for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System in 1995, this game follows the plot of the hit movie. Experience the surprise and reservations of the “Toy Story” friends when they first meet the new toy Buzz Lightyear. Play along as they try to convince Buzz that he is just a toy, not a real space ranger. Be there to help Buzz deal with his true identity. Assist Andy and Buzz as they try to get to their new home. Use all the tools at your disposal to help Woody and Buzz escape from Sid's room. One of the primary benefits of playing “Toy Story” when compared to other video games based on movies is that the in-game story is extremely close to the movie. If you're a fan of the “Toy Story” franchise, this SNES game doesn't feel out of place at all. These games were developed by Traveller's Tales in conjunction with Disney Interactive Studios and Sega. Throughout the SNES version of this game, you get to play through a total of 17 exciting levels that take place in locations from the movie. In each level, it's up to Woody and several additional characters to defeat enemies, navigate tricky obstacles, and complete the mission. When you come up against an enemy in the SNES version of "Toy Story," Woody uses his pull string whip to defeat opponents. This weapon temporarily ties up any enemies in your way, allowing you to safely bypass them. You can also use this string to attach to hooks situated above deadly terrain. As you jump across the levels that lie before you, your goal is to collect as many gold stars as possible. By the end of the level, you're provided with a score that ascertains how well you did. As the gameplay is primarily centered around what you would expect from the platformer genre, you need to jump a lot throughout the game. Timing a jump well gets you to your destination while a mistimed jump sends you back to the start. One of the more unique aspects of this Super Nintendo adventure game is the fact that it changes modes throughout the levels. For instance, a couple of levels have Woody racing with a remote-controlled car while yet another level tasks you with navigating in first-person through a maze. This makes for unique changes of pace through the course of the Nintendo game. This game comes on a standard, gray SNES ROM cartridge. The game's outer packaging features the movie's two heroes and the Toy Story logo against a black backdrop. Wording on the box indicates that the game is "an intensely 3D experience." The exciting gameplay and vivid color scenes of this “Toy Story” version on the SNES provide hours of gaming entertainment.
