I am sorry if there are any issues. The plate you did purchase is designed with the opening to be off center to accommodate string insertion for certain bridge types. I do have other back plates that have the opening centered if that is what you need for your guitar. The plates also comes with a protective layer of adhesive plastic to protect them from scratches. I don't see any actual damage to the plate itself. Please contact me for any help.
