Seller notes: “This antique Victorian era black silk ruffle trim high neck collar mantelet capelet short cloak ... “This antique Victorian era black silk ruffle trim high neck collar mantelet capelet short cloak dates from the 1890s. It is made of a black silk taffeta fabric with passementerie trimmings, soutache braiding and black striped sheer net ruched ruffle trim edging. This marvelous mantelet capelet has a short cloak style, with a dramatic stand up high neck collar edged with ruched ruffles, a hook closure, open front and is unlined. The capelet measures 14 inches long, with a 40 inch chest, 16 inch back and a 16 inch neck. It is in good as-is condition, with one side of the ruffle trim edging missing from the bottom and a frayed rip on the side bottom hem (see close-ups). Great for upcycling. This is truly a wonderful piece of antique Victoriana wearable art.”
