About this product

Product Information

The 1989 twenty-five cent piece is made out of materials including copper and nickel, which replaced using the more expensive precious metal silver in its design. The core of this US quarter is made out of 100 percent copper material, while the cladding portion is 75 percent copper and 25 percent nickel. This US quarter was introduced just a few years after batches of commemorative coins were introduced to celebrate the 1976 United States Bicentennial. This copper-nickel coin features the original designs made by John Flanagan. The obverse side pictures the left side of George Washington's head, with sharper features included here than on older US quarter models. The reverse side contains a picture of an eagle spreading its wings. The 1989 twenty-five cent piece features reeded edges all around the coin as well. The weight of the coin is 0.20 oz. and measures in at 0.96 inches in diameter. The copper-nickel coin was produced during a time where the mint mark was consistently changing, although the original design stayed consistent.
