About this product

Product Information

In "Pokemon Art Academy" for the Nintendo 3DS, fans will learn how to draw Pokemon rather than catching and battling them, like in other video games. This exciting new addition to the franchise teaches players useful and applicable digital art skills. It starts with basic techniques early in the game, and every advancement applies them while also adding fresh skills. The first assignment is none other than a Pikachu portrait. This introduction familiarizes players with the basic workings of the game, like the tool menu and undo commands. Once finished, you will be given starter lessons, which introduce new techniques and tools. The first video game tasks display an image template of the subject on the 3DS's bottom screen that one may trace and color to finish the drawings. Later activities do away with these crutches and instruct players to create the construction shapes that outline the build of their Pokémon. Instead of giving players a silhouette to outline, the game calls for drawing the subject's general shape freehand, armed with only an image and a couple of basic shapes and perforated lines for guidance. In addition to the key assignments, tasks also feature side-courses, which are fundamentally mini-assignments or homework. One is not required to complete these in order to progress to the next grade-level, but they certainly assist in reinforcing the skills that are taught in that course. After completing an essential full-length portrait final test, players may proceed to the Apprentice academy courses. These teachings show players how to apply shading and highlights to subjects and make fresh artistic tools available. Colored pencils and hatching skills are taught in one lesson, while free-form and paintbrush skills are taught in another. The final lesson combines aspects from the apprentice courses while also instructing players how to bring background color into shading and render a natural-looking piece. Once players have grasped these skills and tools, they may proceed to graduate lessons. The graduate courses teach high-level highlighting, shading, and unique stylings such as comic-book style or pastel portraits. Graduate levels are free of all crutches, and the courses will no longer offer players free outlines for guidance. Rather, one must draw their own cores and outlines using just an image displayed on the upper screen of the 3DS for guidance.Advancing within the ranks creates an incredibly rewarding feeling of accomplishment due to the stride and course structure. Those with some artistic talent may concentrate on major assignments and progress on to more challenging teachings. Novices can work at the side lessons to hone their techniques. "Pokémon Art Academy" creates a fabulous learning and practice climate for beginning and seasoned artists alike. Apart from the Pokémon-themed artwork, players may load images from an SD card to make custom art templates in free paint mode. This allows for a much grander range of artistic freedom, as players are not required to adhere solely to Pokémon themes in this mode. You may also share your art or check out the works of other players through Miiverse.
