UEber dreissig Jahre sind vergangen, seit Ronald Reagan und Margaret Thatcher die neoliberale Wende in der Wirtschaftspolitik einlauteten. Die Finanzkrise 2008, die wachsende soziale Ungleichheit, die Arbeitslosigkeit und wirtschaftliche Stagnation in vielen Regionen sowie die standig lauernden Schuldenkrisen wecken derzeit Zweifel, ob die Welt wirtschaftspolitisch auf dem richtigen Kurs ist. Diese Zweifel drucken sich in starken Veranderungen der Parteienlandschaften in fast allen Landern Europas aus: Neue Parteien links von der Sozialdemokratie und rechts von den Konservativen erobern die Parlamente - ahnlich wie nach der Weltwirtschaftskrise 1929. Es ist der Zeitpunkt fur eine Entscheidung gekommen, in welche Richtung es wirtschaftspolitisch weitergehen soll. Zu der dazu notwendigen Debatte moechte dieses Buch einen Beitrag leisten. Dabei wird es nicht - wie viele andere Publikationen zu dem Thema - abstrakte Theorien aus dem akademischen Raum zum Ausgangspunkt nehmen, sondern die Wirtschaftsgeschichte: Welche Erfahrungen wurden mit wirtschaftspolitischen Strategien in der Vergangenheit gemacht?
