Studienarbeit aus dem Jahr 2008 im Fachbereich Musikwissenschaft, Note: 1,3, Folkwang Universitat der Kunste (Musikwissenschaftliches Institut), Veranstaltung: Jazzgeschichte, 9 Quellen im Literaturverzeichnis, Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: In der vorliegenden Hausarbeit beschaftige ich mich mit dem Album Bitches Brew des Jazz-Trompeters Miles Davis. Dabei verfolge ich folgende Fragestellungen. Zum einen stellt sich die allgemeine Frage von Davis' Motivation, gerade so ein Album zu produzieren. Dabei versuche ich die Argumentation zu verdeutlichen, ob Davis aus kommerziellen oder ideellen Grunden dieses Album produziert hat. So werde ich zuallererst eine allgemeine Einfuhrung bis ins Jahr 1968 herleiten. Davis' musikalische Entwicklung werde ich innerhalb dieses Kapitels anhand von Notenbeispielen aus den Jahren 1947 bis 1970 erlautern, um seinen drastischen asthetischen Stilwandel verdeutlichen zu koennen und diesen im Kontext der Fragestellung zu diskutieren. Dabei gehe ich letztlich auf das Stuck Pharaoh's Dance des Albums Bitches Brew ein, indem ich die Studio-Arbeit zu diesem Stuck und das Solo von Miles Davis eingehend analysiere. Weiterhin versuche ich darzulegen, inwiefern dieses Album im Musik-historischen Kontext von Bedeutung ist und welche Stil-bildenden Einflusse an weitere Musiker und Gruppen weitergegeben wurden.
