Seller notes: “This item is in good condition, painted on what we believe is lightweight "flour sack" cotton ... “This item is in good condition, painted on what we believe is lightweight "flour sack" cotton fabric, with oils onto masonite board that is now warped and does not fit well into its apparently original wood frame. Cloth appears to have been glued onto board before artist painted, but perhaps paints are the glue also? Purchased as found, in frame but not matted/under glass. We have removed art from frame to ease tension on masonite board, have left fabric and board alone. From estate of folk art/outsider art collector. Signed lower right "Blanchard" in his distinctive writing. Measures: art is 12" X 16", frame is 13" x 17". Fabric has printing in French across edge at top, shows signs on bottom selvage of dirt. Painting itself is in very good condition, colors are bright, no loss of paint, some very minor surface lines in several places noted but paint does not appear to have any crazing. Painting not varnished, some minor surface soiling noted. See photos for details.”
