This was pretty clearly a pirated DVD. The slick packaging and shrink wrap fooled me into thinking it was some kind of official release, but upon playing them I could see the obvious watermarks of them being recorded from television. Probably the only way I'll get these on DVD with English subtitles, but I'll be wary of DVDs from this vendor going forward.
