The plates I received had no marks on them at all. However, the under side was a bit rough so I had to sand them lightly with some glass paper just to take the rough edges off. So, be careful of putting them straight on to your worktop as they will scratch it. Overall though, they're great. They're good for steak, gammon, fish with all the trimmings. At least you can fit everything on without it all falling off!! Would recommend
