On the positive side the replacement wall clock motor did eventually arrive (after 25 days) and it has now been fitted and is working well. Sadly the packaging wasn't ideal considering the fragility of its contents and two of the replacement "hands" were badly bent, and the third one actually broken! Luckily, I was able to employ the hands from my original clock so disaster averted.
