Seller notes: “A stunning quality antique Chinese carved bamboo wood brush pot depicting calligraphy and two ... “A stunning quality antique Chinese carved bamboo wood brush pot depicting calligraphy and two finely detailed carved vignettes of beautiful very deeply carved scenes of many levels.The carvings being especially appropriate for an artists / scholars brush pot , with one scene depicting figures of scholars with brushes / pens in hand with teacher to the front. The figures seated and stood on a bridge with water / land and grasses below, pagodas can be partly seen to either side along with a large willow tree to the fore , pagoda / hut with fence and bridge along with other leafy, landscape carvings to the background .The other vignette depicts the same teacher stood on a bridge with a gentleman / scholar and with a willow / prunus tree and which is all again beautifully carved on many levels.To each side of the vignettes there is also carved Chinese calligraphy writing.Beautifully carved, superb patina and extremely tactile with many more pictures on the items description p”
