L'autore ha svolto una ricerca filologica sulla manifattura di terraglie a Catrosse in Cortona, di proprietà della famiglia Venuti, collocabile tra la fine del XVIII e l'inizio del XX secolo. Lo studio ha consentito di accertare l'identità di oggetti un tempo anonimi attraverso la scoperta di nuovi materiali, quali reperti di scavo e 655 stampi in gesso. Sono presi in esame, oltre alle svariate forme delle stoviglie per la mensa, anche i vasi da fiori, gli oggetti devozionali (targhe, acquasantiere...), i camini, i candelieri, il set da scrivania, sculture da giardino, ecc. La ricerca ha portato alla luce anche una fiorente produzione di piccoli bassorilievi per la decorazione dei vasi in stile neoclassico, i quali rappresentano una testimonianza dell'influenza di Wedgwood e fanno rientrare la manifattura di Catrosse nel quadro europeo della produzione di terraglie.
