you can't tell from the photos but the power cable had melted styrofoam on it, but that could have happened in shipping. otherwise it was packaged well, arrived in one piece and works well. thanks!

It is a common known problem with vintage items, worst with even older antique items over time. The chemicals that make up the flexible cable jacket breakdown and will eat/melt/burn into anything touching it like styrofoam, plastic, and etc. Some outgassing of VOCs.
