Synopsis
Taria Dawson, creator of Urban Sketching World, makes it easy to join the ever-growing community of urban sketchers--artists who draw on location to document loose, colorful impressions of where they live and travel. Her beginner's guide is packed with everything you need to know about urban sketching principles, drawing fundamentals and tips for creating captivating art with just a few basic supplies! Each chapter breaks down a popular location into smaller subject lessons and practical exercises using the art form's most popular method: ink and watercolor. Learn to draw your morning breakfast at a local café, recreate the changing leaves at the neighborhood park, or report on the industrialization of your cityscape. Then practice putting these components together to tell a full visual story with Taria's "Sketching a Scene" walkthroughs featured at the end of every chapter. What's more, Taria shares different approaches such as beginning by blocking in shapes with watercolor vs starting with an ink outline, so you can really find a style that feels authentic to you. Full of helpful techniques, detailed instructions, and plenty of visual examples, this book is the perfect guide to help you record your adventures no matter where you are (or where you go)!, Oh, The Places You'll Sketch! Capture the world as it lives and breathes in the pages of your sketchbook. Taria Dawson, creator of the popular blog Urban Sketching World, makes it easy to draw on location. Using the art form's loose, colorful and spontaneous method, you'll learn to create sentimental impressions of the places where you live and travel. And all with minimal supplies! Transform the everyday mundane into something magical as you work through focused lessons that build on each other to create full scenes of popular settings. Record your favorite dining experiences, covering everything from the restaurant's atmosphere to your food's mouthwatering textures. Chronicle the changing landscape of your home city as you illustrate the ornate architecture of old buildings next to budding skyscrapers. Or relax and unwind at the park as you practice introducing organic shapes and motion into your visual stories. Full of tips for drawing everything from simple road signs to iconic city skylines, this is the perfect guide to help you document all your sketchy adventures, no matter where you are or where you go.

- e***u (283)- Feedback left by buyer.Past monthVerified purchaseThe listing was for a hardcover version of this book; however, I received a paperback. The Seller replied quickly to my question about this issue and issued a full refund - and let me keep the book. So, a diligent Seller for sure - and well packaged and reasonable timing on shipping. Thank you for the refund, and as you suggested, I'll likely donate this volume and seek the hardcover.
- e***n (392)- Feedback left by buyer.Past 6 monthsVerified purchaseGreat transaction, exactly as described, packed well, and promptly shipped on August 6th. Unfortunately the U.S. Postal Service took 23 calendar days to deliver the book. It was shipped from Pennsylvania, to Atlanta, past Alabama to Texas, enjoyed several days in Texas, then to Minneapolis, Jacksonville, Florida, back to Atlanta, finally to Birmingham, and Huntsville. The seller was very responsive and I decided it was interesting to see if/how the book would arrive. Thanks, JoeDrumsville!: The Evolution of the New Orleans Beat by Robert Cataliotti: Used (#405155037686)
- a***a (419)- Feedback left by buyer.Past monthVerified purchaseThis 2DVD set is in perfect condition. Cover art and case like new. Both DVDs played with no flaws. Description was listed as “Good”; I would describe it as “Very Good”, basically Like New. Delivery was super fast and packaging was excellent. The DVD case was wrapped well, then put in a cardboard envelope that was sturdy and hard to open (this is NOT a negative!). I have purchased from this company a few times and have always been very satisfied. Prices are great.
