The metal is gold filled or rolled gold plated base metal. There are areas of wear to the gold layer -areas where the gold is worn away, exposing the base metal below. The metal has dings, dimples, nicks, scratches/scuffs, wear and imperfections in some areas. The ring appears as though it might have been repaired or perhaps the top garnet section was added to the ring at a later time? -you can see evidence of solder on the inside of the ring -see close images.
