It didn’t fit my gas tank. I had to modify. I had to rewire it also as the connection was different, but I was able to make it work for my 86 Cherokee.

Sending unit didn't fit his tank? Jeep used the same style tank in the Cherokee's from 1984-1987 w/ the exception of the 1986-1987 2.5L had a fuel bowl. If he had to rewire his 1986 Cherokee, that is because he has the 2.5L Multi-port fuel injected engine & the wire harness is different than on the carbureted/diesel unit. We state this unit fits the 1984-1985 carbureted(2.8L)/1984-1987 diesel fuel engines(2.1L). Unfortunately, he purchased the wrong unit and is trying to blame us for the error.
