Posted to Tel El Kabir - the safest bit of the canal zone!!! - Best wishes, Douglas Findlay". Bound in the publisher's brown hardcover boards, titled in gilt to the spine. Spine ends and corners a little bumped, but clean and tight internally. Jacket unclipped with fading to the spine and edgewear. Well illustrated with photos of British army personnel, places, etc. When Doug Findlay signed on at the recruiting office in Edinburgh in 1951 he had visions of a local posting and wowing the ladies as one of the RAF’s Brylcreem boys.Instead, he found himself combatting sandstorms, mosquitoes and murderous Egyptians who wanted Doug and his fellow Brits out of the Suez Canal Zone as much as they wanted to go home.”
