The Denon DRA-685 2-channel 100-watt receiver reliably produces as awesome a sound as you might expect from any of the company's products. You can be sure that the 100-watt amplifier will be more than adequate for your existing stereo speaker system. All your analog and digital sources will benefit from this high-quality amplifier. Old-school power transistors provide great separation at 100 watts per channel, 20 hertz to 20 kilohertz, with an impedance of 8 ohms. Harmonic distortion is no greater than 0.05 percent.The front-panel controls and LCD displays are handsome and well-presented. The AM/FM radio tuner allows you to select 40 stations for a personalized preset function. The unit also has a programmable sleep function so you can fall asleep listening to the stereo. This tuner has a four-pole varactor diode in its front end, so station frequencies are tuned in accurately. There is no reception drift, thanks to the PLL circuit design.Perhaps you like to watch TV sports muted so you can enjoy the radio commentary. The Denon DRA-685 has a function that allows you to select a video source and then select an alternate audio input source. The output signal of this receiver is clean with great fidelity and clarity of reproduction. This may be attributed to the Signal Level Divided Construction. SLDC is a chassis design that handles low signals and high signals in two separate blocks. This helps prevent them from interfering with each other.You can listen to the radio in one room while somebody else listens to the CD player through speakers in another. This is thanks to the multi-source function of the DRA-685. Second zone speakers or even a second zone amplifier may be added via dedicated multi-room output jacks. You can adjust the audio volume of those speakers with the second remote control. The second zone remote controller (RC-873) included in the original packaging allows you to fully operate the Denon DRA-685 from another room. This even includes source selection, selecting preset radio stations and volume adjustment.You might still like to watch your old video discs, and now you can combine that experience with sound from a CD. Use the easy simulcast copy feature with this unit. It even permits reception and recording of FM/TV simulcast programs onto video. And the record out selector function lets you listen to one source while recording another.The IR remote input and output terminals are compatible with external equipment such as Denon's RC-616, 617S, 617W and 618 remote control devices. Control codes for other Denon components, as well as those for your DVD, VCR and TV, are preprogrammed into the main remote control (RC-872).The Denon receiver drives hard-hitting bass and clear treble with a stereo sound that is a step above the rest. Convenient switches and functional controls mean that this Denon receiver is a must-have for any well thought out audio and video system. Plus, with all its features and accessories, it’s a breeze to control like a professional.
