It is made of a black silk fabric with a layered scalloped ruffle trim edging. This Civil War era mourning parasol has a black ebony wood carved cane handle, finial top, a sliding brass ring folding shaft, with a marquis tilt top mechanism inside to keep your face hidden during the mourning period and is lined in a black silk fabric. The parasol measures 17 inches wide across the fabric when opened, 26 inches long extended and 16 inches long when folded. The frame mechanism is in good fine working condition and there are several splits frayed rips on the silk fabric both inside, outside (see close-ups). This is truly a wonderful antique Victoriana Civil War era mourning parasol”
