Bound in the grained red hardcovers, possibly a later binding, with light soiling or darkening to the boards, titles in gilt to the spines. Spines a little dulled, ends bumped. Blocks sound, with some age toning to the pages, closed edges flecked. half title page and opposite in volume 1 with copious notes by a previous owner. Includes a number of engravings, some foxing spotting to these. Previous owner's plates to the inner cover (Colonel W Gordon). A good set overall. Pagination - 529pp, 563pp, 477pp, 413pp, 464pp, 480pp, 549pp + 14pp, 528pp. Segur was Aide de Camp to Napoleon. The memoirs begin in 1790 and relate the whole of the Empire. Lots of information on the abdication and restoration of the Bourbons.”
