Seller notes: “This work consists of 24 separate bi-weekly issues printed for Subscribers, plus an additional ... “This work consists of 24 separate bi-weekly issues printed for Subscribers, plus an additional Supplementary issue at the end of Part II. Each issue contains several steel engraved prints of renowned period works of art, with textual commentary about each. Each of the two Parts contain 48 black and white engravings (98 total), and Part I is preceded with a Frontis plate engraving of Allan Cunningham, signed "Yours always Allan Cunningham". Most of the engravings are about 5x6 inches on an 8.5x11-inch page and are bordered on all sides by a margin of about two inches. The pages and plates are nicely age-toned, cream-colored, and remarkably clean, although some plates have scattered foxing around page margins; the engraved plate pages are protected with tissue guards. Text and plate pages consist of a sturdy Whatman-style paper. Parts I and II are bound together in dark brown cloth binding with gilt lettering on the spine, somewhat soiled and with bumped corners; binding is firm.”
