In 1979, Johnny Thunders, legendary Heartbreakers & New York Dolls guitarist, teamed up with Wayne Kramer, also legendary guitarist of Detroit's seminal MC5, to form 'Gang War', an alliance that lasted the best part of a year. Although Gang War released no records & at the time they got little attention, in retrospect the collaboration is looked on as a 'rock fantasy' supergroup. These live recordings bear testimony to this unique partnership between two renowned rock guitar icons.

Interesting club recording, sound quality of the disc is good, the bands performances are inconsistent. Wayne Kramers guitar work is great, Covers of These Boots are Made for Walking and The Harder They Come are definite musical highlights. Johnny Thunders performance is "rough", his verbal abuse of the crowd is classic punk, Just Because I'm White / Bright Lights Big City took my by surprise with its, shall we say "racial insensitive" stance. Overall a good piece of hard club scene music.
