Originally manufactured by Vox, the Clyde has been reissued by Fulltone to meet the needs of the next generation of guitarists. Trumpet player Clyde McCoy was the inspiration for this device due to his trumpet's distinct muted wah-wah tones; that same tone is rendered perfectly by this pedal for electric guitars. The Fulltone Clyde Deluxe produces a dynamic wall of sound. Like the vintage wah pedals of the '60s and '70s, this deluxe version is a classic take on the effects of the older model that Fulltone fans love. In addition to the features that made the original wahs famous, the Deluxe boasts 10-step variable input level control as well as a true-bypass feature. This allows guitarists to route sound directly to the amp when desired for the crisp, clean, true sound that audiences crave. Guitars wail with vibrant tonality all the way from bass to treble when amps are connected to this unit. Another feature that distinguishes this pedal is the selection of three play modes. Jimi, the default mode for Clyde pedals, is included. The addition of side-viewable Wacked and Shaft modes gives guitarists the opportunity to experiment with their sound and create the type of wah tones that are suitable for styles ranging from classic funk to heavy metal. The ability to customize and switch tones with this model has been taken to the extreme. The result is a unit that performs as well under the stage lights as it does in the studio.
