Das vorliegende Buch versteht sich als eine erste soziologiegeschichtliche Annäherung an dieses Thema. Es umfasst die Zeit von Königs Schweizer Exil Ende der 1930er Jahre bis zur erfolgreichen Institutionalisierung der Kölner Soziologie Mitte der siebziger Jahre.
