Drawing on his interdenominational background of actor, priest, counsellor and dramatherapist, Roger Grainger examines the connections between dramatherapy and the spiritual dimension of life. While noting that dramatherapy is not attached to any specific religion, and that some approaches to psychotherapy are overtly non-religious, the author finds subliminal points of contact both in moments of encounter and in methods of communication. He suggests that these contacts are both direct - with dramatherapy providing the framework for a potentially endless succession of images - and indirect - through the arousing of imagination. The book, like the author's career, is eclectic, and draws together philosophy, history, spiritualism and practical experience of dramatherapy work. It offers exciting conclusions in an original field.
