About this product

Product Information

Styled after the award-winning Starcraft, Dark Planet: Battle for Natrolis focuses on the inter-galactic conflict between three races: the Colonists, Dreil and Sorin. The Colonists are in fact human beings who have come to pillage the planet of its resources. The Sorin are a noble race of lizard-like creatures who want nothing more than to protect their homeworld, and the Dreil are indigenous creatures whose slumber was disturbed when the conflict between the two aforementioned races broke out, and who have now decided to feast on the two warring factions.

In familiar RTS fashion, each side has comparable basic units in addition to a handful of more powerful units and weapons unique to each race. Unlike other titles in the genre however, each faction requires different resources to fuel its war effort. The Sorin for example do not need Crystal, leaving the other two races to fight for the resource amongst themselves.

Real-time weather effects such as gusts of wind, torrential rain and changing time of day alter the strategies that can be employed by the player. The 3D environment gives rise to terrain with varying heights and obstacles that can obscure the player's view of the on-screen action. Edgies have built in a mouse-controlled camera which allows players to zoom in and rotate the perspective to gain the best view of the action possible.

Multiplayer modes include Skirmish, Capture the Flag, Domination, and Campaign. The last is a set of unique cooperative missions whereby one or more players are required to complete specific objectives in order to defeat the AI opponents.

installed just fine! although one of the jewel case hinges broke off, not sure what happened there; wish there was a brand new listing for this particular version of the CD (with the registered trademark), but this is fine
