Belonging to a series of hard drives intended for use in laptop systems, the MK1214GAH hard drive runs at a rate of 4200 rpm and has an 8MB DRAM disk cache buffer. It transfers data to external sources from its two platters via four different heads at a maximum rate of 100Mb/s while the internal data transfer rate is 411.1Mbit/s. A low latency rate of 7.14ms also assists in reducing delays while retrieving data from the spinning disks. Users employing the drive will find that the average seek time of 15ms, combined with a track-to-track time of 3ms, ensures rapid delivery of important data in a computer system.As an embedded HDD, the MK1214GAH is based on Perpendicular Magnetic Recording, meaning it offers high information density. With access to over 120GB of recording space, users can store a vast amount of pictures, videos, and documents. Since preserving the integrity of a hard drive is critical to protecting important data, the Toshiba drive also features S.M.A.R.T., or Self-Monitoring, Analysis, and Reporting Technology. By utilizing this software, users can prevent undesired loss of data and preserve the stability of their operation-critical backups.
