I would not recommend this as a school bag. It's more of a medium size purse. I use it as a work bag and it serves its function. BUT PIN COLLECTORS BEWARE. This is not like most pin collector bags with an insert panel, the inner lining is only for safety pin type pins. I had to modify the inside to use most of my pins. Overall ok experience
